we were kids really

your sly smile

with wicked blue eyes

bike riding to my house
excited with your news
of baseball training camp

holding my hand

a brush of a kiss

across my cheek bone

whilst saying goodbye

just a summer apart

you say…..

not knowing

my childhood love

for you

would forever depart.

Flying at night

no one can see

their beauty

but me

flying in threes

how they used to be

now just a painted memory.

the sun drenched this town

not likely this time of year

wandering around in my royal gown

tasting London beer

meeting folks

disguised as blokes

my castle so high

must flee

if only for awhile.

to another scorching day

it seems it will never rain

revel in the moments

of remoteness

What keeps you awake

is your soul

protecting your heartbreak

their spewing of bile

with the mask of a smile

that makes you feel 

completely unreal

try to surrender

your mind to peace

& the flood of anxiety

will cease

forgiveness

will lift that

burden of hate

& give you faith

the power to move on

to trust another soul

to someday bond.
